The flag of Algeria consists of two equal vertical bands, with green on the hoist side and white on the fly side. A red crescent, opening toward the fly side, overlaps the boundary between the two fields, and a five-pointed red star appears within the crescent. The strong contrast between the green and white bands makes the design readily recognizable, while the paired red crescent and star provide a distinctive central emblem. Its simple split-field arrangement remains clear at both large and small display sizes.
