The flag of the United Arab Emirates has a distinctive four-part design built from red, green, white, and black. A red vertical band runs along the hoist, or flagpole side, and occupies approximately one-quarter of the flag’s width. Beside it are three equal horizontal bands arranged from top to bottom in green, white, and black. The combination of the strong vertical panel and evenly proportioned horizontal stripes makes the flag readily identifiable when displayed on its own or alongside other national flags. Its simple geometric layout also remains clear at different viewing sizes and in both indoor and outdoor settings.
