Linmas is short for Perlindungan Masyarakat, or Community Protection. More specifically, Satuan Perlindungan Masyarakat (Satlinmas) is a community organization operating at village and urban-village level in Indonesia. It assists local authorities with maintaining public order, responding to disasters, supporting social activities, helping secure elections, and providing protection for residents.

The Linmas identity is associated with a shield-shaped emblem that conveys composure, firmness, and integrity. A banyan tree represents shelter and protection, while crossed sharpened bamboo reflects solidarity and shared struggle. The visual language also uses red, green, yellow, and black, traditionally connected with energy, harmony, dignity, and faith. Together, these elements present a civic identity centered on community service, preparedness, and public safety.
