Persis Solo is an Indonesian football club based in Surakarta and currently competing in the Indonesia Super League. The club is also known as Persatuan Sepak Bola Indonesia Surakarta, or PERSIS, and it traces its origins to VVB, founded on 8 November 1923. It was later renamed PERSIS in 1928 and is noted as one of the seven clubs that helped found PSSI in 1930.
