The UEFA Europa League (UEL) is an annual European club football tournament organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). Established in 1971 as the UEFA Cup, it was renamed in 2009 after format changes and the integration of the UEFA Intertoto Cup. The competition ranks below the UEFA Champions League and above the UEFA Conference League in the European club football structure.

A group stage was introduced in the 2004–05 season, while the group stage was replaced by a 36-team league phase in 2024–25. The tournament is contested by eligible European clubs, and its winners qualify for the following season’s UEFA Super Cup and UEFA Champions League. Sevilla is the competition’s most successful club, while Spain has recorded the most wins among participating countries.
