Olympique Lyonnais, commonly known as Lyon or OL, is a French professional football club based in Lyon, France. Founded in 1950, with origins dating back to 1899, the men’s team currently competes in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa League (UEL). The club’s home colours are white, red and blue.

Olympique Lyonnais has a long record of participation in European football, including seventeen UEFA Champions League appearances and several UEFA Europa League campaigns. The team reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals in 2009–10 and 2019–20, and the UEFA Europa League semi-finals in 2016–17. Its nickname, Les Gones, means “The Kids” in Lyon’s regional dialect of Franco-Provençal.
