The Bengkulu Selatan Regency emblem consists of a pentagonal shield containing a five-pointed star, a bee, rice and cloves, traditional weapons, and ceremonial and musical objects. It also includes a regional saying.
- Pentagonal shield and star: The five-pointed star sits at the top and symbolizes belief in the One Almighty God. It also reflects Pancasila as the foundation of the state.
- Bee: The bee symbolizes residents’ diligence, perseverance, hard work, and commitment to mutual cooperation for shared progress.
- Rice and cloves: These represent important natural resources and livelihoods that support the local economy. Clove seeds represent the division of subdistricts, while the 27 grains of rice reflect the 27 historically recognized marga.
- Keris and rudus: These traditional weapons symbolize patriotism, heroism, and readiness to defend the region’s honor.
- Cerana and kelintang: These objects represent the importance of local customs, culture, and arts, which residents continue to preserve.
- Colors: Green represents fertile soil and agriculture as a source of prosperity; gold represents noble character and hope for a bright future; red symbolizes courage and heroism; and black signifies natural resources that remain hidden and require further study to support development.
The Bengkulu Selatan Regency emblem carries the regional saying “Sekundang Setungguan,” a Serawai phrase expressing agreement, mutual support, moving together, and sharing the same fate. “Manna Kota Kenangan” is separately identified as the motto associated with Manna, the regency capital.
