The coat of arms of Bengkulu Province consists of an outer shield with a yellow-gold border, a green upper field, and blue-and-white sea waves below. A smaller shield sits at the center.
- Central emblems: The inner shield contains a five-pointed star, a cerana or betel container, two crossed traditional rudus weapons, and a Rafflesia arnoldii flower. The star symbolizes belief in the One Almighty God, the cerana symbolizes a high culture, the rudus weapons symbolize the people’s spirit of heroism, and the flower symbolizes Bengkulu’s distinctive natural environment.
- Agricultural plants: A rice stalk appears on the left and a coffee branch, with leaves, flowers, and fruit, on the right. Rice and coffee symbolize prosperity and the region’s agricultural and plantation products.
- Colors: Green symbolizes fertility, blue prosperity, red dynamism and joy, purple calm and peace, and yellow glory. The green upper field also represents the fertility of the Bukit Barisan area, while the blue waves depict the sea as a source of natural wealth west of Bengkulu.
- Commemorative counts: Seventeen rice grains, eight coffee fruits, and coffee-leaf vein lines arranged in groups of four and five refer to Indonesia’s proclamation of independence on August 17, 1945. Eighteen wave lines, eleven coffee leaves, and six flowers and eight fruits on each stalk represent Bengkulu Province’s anniversary on November 18, 1968.
- Ribbon inscription: A yellow ribbon below the shield bears the black uppercase text “BENGKULU”. It gives the administrative name rather than a separate motto.
The coat of arms of Bengkulu Province is illustrated and explained in Bengkulu Governor Regulation No. 11 of 2025 on Civil Servant Uniforms in the Bengkulu Provincial Government, dated May 7, 2025. The regulation governs its use as an attribute of civil servants’ official uniforms in the provincial government.
