The Lebong Regency emblem consists of a pentagonal frame, a green background, rice and coffee, a five-part tie, a cerano, a mountain, a golden star, and the inscription “Kabupaten Lebong.” Its documented elements refer to the Rejang people and the history, livelihoods, and geography of Lebong Regency in Bengkulu Province.
- Pentagonal frame: The frame symbolizes the Rejang people’s firm adherence to Islam and their composition of four tribes plus one king.
- Green background: Green symbolizes the fertility of Lebong Regency’s land.
- Rice and coffee: These crops symbolize the main sources of livelihood for the people of Lebong Regency. The emblem specifies 17 grains of rice, symbolizing Indonesia’s independence date, and 13 coffee leaves, referring to the inauguration or appointment of the regency’s first regent on 3 January 2004.
- Five-part tie: The tie refers to the Rejang people’s origin, expressed as “Jang tiang empat lima dengan raja,” and to Lebong’s initial formation from five subdistricts.
- Cerano: This element symbolizes the community’s strong regard for customary law and cultural traditions.
- Mountain: The mountain symbolizes Lebong Regency’s geography, surrounded by mountain ranges and forest areas.
- Golden star and inscription: The star symbolizes Lebong as a gold-producing area and the community’s high aspirations. “Kabupaten Lebong” identifies the lawful autonomous regional government within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
The Lebong Regency emblem and regional motto are based on Lebong Regency Regional Regulation No. 28 of 2005. The motto “Swarang Patang Stumang” expresses the Rejang people’s longing for unity and a shared sense of hardship and good fortune.
