- Red-and-white border: The border represents national feeling and unity within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
- Mount Semeru and five flames: Mount Semeru represents steadfastness, while the five flames at its summit symbolize the fervor of the spirit of Pancasila.
- Rice and cotton: The 45 grains of rice and 17 cotton blossoms refer to Indonesia’s independence date, August 17, 1945, and symbolize hopes for food and clothing prosperity.
- Tobacco leaves: The eight tobacco leaves above the cup or monument signify the region’s agricultural products and refer to August, the eighth month.
- Five-pointed star: The star symbolizes belief in the One Almighty God.
The ribbon carries the Kawi motto “AMRETA BRATA WIRA BHAKTI”, meaning that everlasting virtue is the conduct of a knight devoted to service. The Lumajang Regency emblem was established under Regional Regulation No. 13 of 1971.
