The Pacitan Regency emblem consists of a pentagonal shield, a star with a coconut tree depicted behind it, red, white, and black lines, and representations of rice and cotton. These elements form the documented visual composition of the emblem used in Pacitan Regency, East Java.
- Pentagonal shield: The five-sided shield symbolizes Pancasila as the foundation of the state, which must be upheld as the spirit of the Indonesian nation.
- Star and coconut tree: The coconut tree appears in the background of the star and refers to coconut as one of Pacitan’s principal agricultural products.
- Red, white, and black lines: These colors represent the colors of the national flag. Red signifies courage, white signifies purity, and the design is grounded in truth and wisdom.
- Rice and cotton: These elements depict the people’s aspiration for prosperity through sufficient clothing and food.
The Pacitan Regency emblem is governed by Regional Regulation No. 2 of 1968, based on the winning design from a 1967 competition by Asan Soetrisno. Its motto, “Tata Pramana Hargeng Praja”, expresses the determination of the government and community to create good governance for the honor and glory of the region. It therefore carries a documented administrative and civic meaning under that regulation.
