Serie A is a professional association football league based in Italy and the highest division of the Italian football league system. Established in the 1929–30 season, it replaced the earlier Italian Football Championship with a national round-robin format. In Italy, it is officially known as Serie A Enilive, while the international sponsorship name is Serie A Made in Italy.

The competition has been organized by Lega Serie A since 2010, following earlier administration by the Direttorio Divisioni Superiori and Lega Calcio. Its history also includes the 1945–46 season, which used a temporary format during the post-war period. The league forms the top level of Italy’s domestic football structure and has long been associated with prominent clubs such as Juventus, Inter Milan, and AC Milan.
