The Banjarnegara Regency emblem consists of a green shield with a golden-yellow border and contains 14 natural elements and cultural buildings. It represents Banjarnegara Regency in Central Java through imagery associated with the area’s landscape, agriculture, and cultural heritage.
- Green shield and golden-yellow border: The green shield symbolizes steadfastness, peace, and the fertility of Banjarnegara, while the golden-yellow border reinforces the emblem’s defined outer edge.
- Upright pentagonal form: The upright five-sided form symbolizes the community’s character and spirit of unity based on the philosophy of Pancasila.
- Arjuna Temple: Arjuna Temple replaces the banyan-tree symbol used in the former emblem and represents respect for the ancestral cultural heritage of the Dieng Plateau.
- Natural and agricultural imagery: Rice, cotton, mountains, fields, and water waves or a dam depict the regency’s geographic potential, agricultural character, and tourism resources.
- Regional motto: The motto “Manunggaling Swara Tumataning Praja” refers to the unity of voices, determination, and action between the community and regional government in organizing and developing shared life.
- Name and local nickname: The name Banjarnegara is explained through “Banjar”, referring to rows of rice fields or farmland, and “Negara”, referring to a territory or city. The area is also widely known as Bumi Dawet Ayu because of its traditional local drink.
The Banjarnegara Regency emblem was newly established through Banjarnegara Regency Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2022. That legal basis documents the current form and meaning of the emblem, including its motto context.
