The Pekalongan Regency emblem consists of a winged shield with a star above it and several elements that express religious belief, cultural diversity, patriotism, coastal livelihoods, independence, and local craftsmanship. It is associated with Pekalongan Regency in Central Java, Indonesia.
- Star above the shield: The star symbolizes belief in the One Almighty God, while its five points represent Pancasila.
- Three-colored shield: The yellow, light-brown, and dark-brown sections symbolize ethnic and racial diversity in Pekalongan Regency. Yellow represents the Chinese ethnic community, light brown represents the Indigenous Javanese community, and dark brown represents people of Arab descent.
- Seventeen wing feathers: The wings have eight feathers on the left and nine on the right. They symbolize the people’s dynamic aspirations and love of peace, while the total of seventeen refers to the date of Indonesia’s Proclamation of Independence.
- Keris: The keris symbolizes the enduring patriotism of the people of Pekalongan Regency in defending, developing, and building their region and homeland.
- Sea and fish: These elements represent the potential of the coastal area and the importance of fishing to the livelihoods of much of the population.
- Forty-five rice grains: The 45 grains refer to the year of the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence, 1945, and symbolize prosperity and the people’s staple food.
- Jlamprang batik ribbon: The ribbon carries a Jlamprang batik pattern with eight ceplok motifs, referring to August, the eighth month, and to Pekalongan batik as a local craft embedded in community life.
The Pekalongan Regency emblem was established under Decision of DPRGR No. 17/PD/DPRGR/11/71 dated February 16, 1971.
