The Grobogan Regency emblem consists of a shield tied with eight knots and containing symbols of regional identity, nature, and struggle. Its composition includes a gold star, three blue water waves, a flame, two mountains, bamboo elements, agricultural produce, lightning, and numerical details associated with Indonesian independence.
- Shield and eight knots: The tied shield represents Grobogan Regency as surrounded by eight neighboring regencies: Semarang, Demak, Kudus, Pati, Blora, Sragen, Boyolali, and Ngawi.
- Star and water waves: The five-pointed gold star symbolizes belief in the One Almighty God and the five principles of Pancasila. Three blue waves represent the Tuntang, Serang, and Lusi rivers.
- Flame and mountains: The flame depicts Api Mrapen, a famous natural eternal flame and a symbol of life with an undying spirit. The two mountains represent the Kendeng and North Limestone mountain ranges.
- Bamboo elements: Kelakah, a bamboo arrangement associated with traditional inland salt production, identifies a local characteristic. Pointed bamboo symbolizes the people’s struggle to achieve and defend Indonesian independence.
- Agricultural produce: Rice grains and corn symbolize the earth’s produce and the main agricultural commodities of the people of Grobogan.
- Lightning and numerical symbols: Lightning refers to the local legend of Ki Ageng Selo, while 17 teak-leaf teeth, eight tongues of flame, four kelakah, and five bamboo segments refer to 17 August 1945.
The Grobogan Regency emblem is documented as the official emblem, and its numerical elements refer to the Proclamation of Indonesian Independence on 17 August 1945. It therefore preserves documented references to regional geography, local tradition, agricultural life, and national struggle.
