The Semarang Regency emblem consists of a pentagonal shield bearing images associated with the regency’s natural resources, history, and civic spirit. Its documented elements include agricultural symbols, mountain and water features, a temple silhouette, and signs of development.

  • Pentagonal shield: The shield symbolizes resilience and the philosophy of Pancasila.
  • Rice and cotton: Rice with 17 grains and cotton with 8 blossoms symbolize aspirations for prosperity in food and clothing, and refer to the date of Indonesia’s Proclamation of Independence.
  • Mountains: Mount Ungaran and Mount Kendalisada depict the regency’s geography amid surrounding mountains.
  • Rawa Pening: Five layers of waves symbolize the area’s water resources and natural potential.
  • Gedongsanga temple: Its silhouette represents the region’s historical and cultural heritage.
  • Bamboo, industry, and plantations: A pointed bamboo stalk with 15 segments represents the people’s spirit of heroism and struggle, while the factory and plantation represent the potential of those sectors.
  • Electricity pole and base beam: The 12-tier framework and beam, with 4 sections above and 5 below, symbolize development and historical dating.

The Semarang Regency emblem was approved through Minister of Home Affairs Decree No. 102135–205, dated August 6, 1971. Its motto, “Dharmottama Satya Praja”, means exemplary devotion and loyalty to the state and society.
