The Banyumas Regency emblem consists of depictions of Mount Slamet, the Serayu River, a seludang containing manggar, rice, a mulberry branch, and the traditional weapon Gada Rujak Polo. These elements represent Banyumas Regency in Central Java through natural features, vegetation, agricultural abundance, and ideals of protection and justice.
- Mount Slamet: Positioned at the top against a blue sky, Mount Slamet symbolizes protection, steadfastness, and a source of strength and prosperity for the community.
- Serayu River: The river is depicted by wavy water lines and symbolizes a source of livelihood, fertility, and the dynamic life of the Banyumas community.
- Seludang containing manggar: This element symbolizes the continuity of life, agricultural produce, and hopes for a future that continues to grow.
- Rice and mulberry branch: Rice appears on the left, while a mulberry branch appears on the right with eight leaves and eight clusters of fruit. The emblem also records 17 rice grains, four water-wave lines, and five sections of the gada; these numbers symbolize Indonesia’s Independence Day, 17 August 1945.
- Gada Rujak Polo: Located at the bottom, this traditional weapon symbolizes protection, justice, and truth as ideals of the community.
The motto associated with the Banyumas Regency emblem is “Rarasing Rasa Wiwaraning Pradja”, meaning that harmony of feeling among the people is the gateway to the envisioned region or state. The emblem also reflects the Banyumas nickname “Kota Satria”, associated with heroism, honesty, and chivalry.
