The Wonogiri Regency emblem combines a golden-yellow shield with a black edge and a red-and-white pentagonal form inside it. Its documented elements include a star, agricultural produce, a chain, landscape features, and Javanese cultural symbols.
- Shield and field: The golden-yellow shield has a black edge, symbolizing the regency’s protective character and greatness.
- Pentagonal form and colors: The inner form has red on the right and white on the left, with a black edge. It represents the philosophy of Pancasila, the national flag, and fidelity to the 1945 Constitution.
- Gold star: The star symbolizes belief in the One Almighty God.
- Rice and flowers: The emblem shows 45 rice grains and 17 flower buds, referring to Indonesia’s Proclamation of Independence on 17 August 1945.
- Cassava: Eight cassava tubers symbolize August, the eighth month, and the area’s agricultural potential.
- Chain: Its 13 links refer to togetherness and unity.
- Landscape and cultural symbols: Mountains, forests, land, and water depict Wonogiri’s topography and natural wealth. A five-curved-blade keris and a wayang gunungan symbolize Javanese cultural heritage, heroism, and local struggle.
“Sabda Sakti Nugrahaning Praja” functions as a chronogram for 1967, with its word values read as 7, 6, 9, and 1. The Wonogiri Regency emblem was refined under Regional Regulation No. 1 of 1990.
