The Serang Regency emblem combines six cloves, the minaret of the Great Mosque of Banten, Surosowan Fort, a banyan tree, two river motifs, two sea areas, and curved root-like lines. Its components refer to religious, historical, and geographic aspects of Serang Regency in Banten, Indonesia.
- Six cloves: The six cloves symbolize the six articles of faith and also represent prosperity and the agricultural sector.
- Great Mosque of Banten minaret: The minaret symbolizes the center of Islamic propagation, cultural heritage, and a strong system of government.
- Surosowan Fort and number arrangement: The fort is depicted with the number 26 above, 10 on the left and right, and 8 below. This arrangement refers to the founding date of Serang Regency, October 8, 1526.
- Curved root-like lines: The lines, arranged in counts of 17, 8, 4, and 5, represent the date of Indonesia’s proclamation of independence, August 17, 1945.
- Banyan tree: The tree symbolizes unity, social justice, and preparedness.
- Two rivers: The river motifs depict the Cibanten and Ciujung rivers, which flow through the region.
- Two sea areas: These areas depict Serang’s geographic boundaries with the Java Sea and the Sunda Strait.
A ribbon beneath the design bears the Javanese motto “Sepi Ing Pamrih Rame Ing Gawe”, which expresses working hard and serving the community sincerely, without seeking personal reward. The Serang Regency emblem is described as an official symbol reflecting the region’s identity.
