The Tangerang Regency emblem features a shield with five points at the top, a brick fortress, plants and a bamboo hat in the middle, and wavy lines below. Its motto reads “SATYA KARYA KERTA RAHARJA” and expresses loyalty and hard work toward a prosperous, fair, and thriving society.
- Five points: The five points at the top of the shield symbolize Pancasila as the foundation of the Republic of Indonesia.
- Brick fortress: The fortress arrangement symbolizes a defensive stronghold and recalls the struggle and heroism of the people of Tangerang Regency.
- Supporting bricks: The number of bricks supporting the fortress symbolizes the date of Indonesia’s Proclamation of Independence, 17 August 1945.
- Rice, cotton, and bamboo: The 27 grains of rice signify the 27th day, the 12 cotton flowers signify December, and the 43 bamboo segments signify 1943, together marking the regency’s founding date of 27 December 1943.
- Bamboo hat: The hat represents the local economy, including handicrafts and industry that have long characterized the Tangerang area.
- White wavy lines: These lines indicate that major rivers, including the Cisadane, flow through the regency.
- Blue-and-white wavy lines: These lines symbolize the sea and coastal area, reflecting the regency’s location along Java’s northern coast.
The Tangerang Regency emblem was formally approved under Regional Regulation No. 19 of 1984 and revised under Regional Regulation No. 10 of 1987.
