• Sea or water lines: These refer to Aceh Timur’s border with the Strait of Malacca and symbolize maritime resources and fisheries as supports for the local economy.
• Colors: Green symbolizes fertile land, peace, and Islamic religious feeling; gold symbolizes dignity and historical greatness; white symbolizes purity and sincerity; red and black signify strength and courage in defending the truth.
• Motto: “Udep Saree, Matee Syahid” expresses living together in harmony and prosperity, and dying as a martyr in defense of faith, homeland, and truth.
