The Cirebon Regency emblem consists of a shield with stars, rice and cotton, a mountain, a forked golok, a gateway, and sea imagery. Its documented elements express meanings associated with community welfare, cultural values, and Indonesia’s independence.
- Shield: The shield symbolizes security, tranquility, and the welfare of the community.
- Nine red stars: The stars symbolize the Wali Sanga, the nine figures who spread Islam. Each star has five points, making 45 points in total.
- Rice and cotton: The 17 grains of rice symbolize fertile land and sufficient food, while the eight cotton bolls symbolize prosperity in clothing. Their counts, together with the 45 star points, represent 17 August 1945, Indonesia’s Proclamation of Independence.
- Mountain: The mountain symbolizes the region’s grandeur, greatness, and nobility.
- Forked golok: This traditional blade symbolizes effectiveness, resolve, and the spirit of opposing falsehood and tyranny.
- Five-tier gateway: The gateway symbolizes Cirebon as a center for the spread of Islam and reflects the pillars of Islam and the community’s openness.
- Sea and five waves: The blue sea symbolizes open-heartedness and humility; the five waves symbolize the community’s dynamism in practicing Pancasila.
- Colors: Red symbolizes courage, yellow noble character, white purity, honesty, and justice, black faith and devotion to God, and light blue a broad outlook.
The Cirebon Regency emblem bears the motto “Rame Ing Gawe Suci Ing Pamrih,” which means working diligently without self-interest and with pure intentions.
