The Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency emblem consists of a pentagonal shield containing flora, traditional transportation, and natural-resource symbols. Its colors, inscriptions, and other elements have documented meanings.
- Pentagonal shield and colors: The pentagonal shield symbolizes the philosophy of Pancasila and the community’s readiness to defend itself, the regency, and the nation. Yellow and blue represent readiness to pursue a bright future by using maritime and land potential. The black border symbolizes the regional boundary and strong unity.
- Rice and cotton: These symbolize aspirations for prosperity, justice, and sufficient food and clothing. The 21 grains of rice and 10 cotton strands refer to the regency’s establishment on 21 October 1999.
- Flame and torch: These symbolize the area’s energy resources, including oil and natural gas.
- Gateway: This symbolizes the regency’s geographic position as a gateway for economic activity, trade, and transportation in Jambi Province.
- Lancang Kuning boat: The boat symbolizes Malay cultural identity and the community’s maritime way of life. It represents transportation and fishing, as well as resilience in facing the challenges of development.
- Checkerboard pattern: The black and yellow parallelogram-shaped boxes symbolize dynamism and mathematical calculation in planning regional development toward prosperity.
- Administrative name: The words “Tanjung Jabung Timur” appear in black on a white field at the top of the emblem.
- Motto ribbon: A white ribbon below the shield bears “Sepucuk Nipah Serumpun Nibung,” expressing cooperation, unity, deliberation, and consensus. Nipah symbolizes harmony among government, customary, and legislative institutions in protecting the community; clustered nibung plants symbolize the unity of the area’s diverse communities.
Regional Regulation (Perda) No. 2 of 2001 regulates the official Tanjung Jabung Timur Regency emblem.
