The Sungai penuh City emblem features a stylized traditional-house roof form, a mosque with three roofs and eight doors, a gong with 11 lines of resonance, rice and cotton, and Incung script.

  • Roof frame: The upper frame is based on a stylized version of the traditional house roof of Sungai Penuh.
  • Mosque: Its three roofs symbolize belief in Allah, the unity of the four kaum, and the three heirlooms guarded by the community. Its eight doors symbolize the Eight Pucuk Larangan and Undang-undang yang Delapan in local custom, and represent the city’s founding date, the eighth day of the month.
  • Gong and resonance lines: The gong symbolizes the community’s commitment to upholding and preserving culture and the tradition of deliberating toward consensus. Its 11 resonance lines symbolize November, the 11th month, when the city was formed.
  • Rice and cotton: The 20 grains of rice and eight cotton bolls symbolize the government’s and community’s hopes for adequate food and clothing. Their counts, 20 and 8, also represent 2008, the year the city was established under Law No. 25 of 2008.
  • Incung script: This ancient writing system is a heritage of the Kerinci and Sungai Penuh communities and symbolizes Old Malay cultural identity.

The use of the Sungai penuh City emblem is regulated by Regional Regulation No. 3 of 2011 on the Regional Emblem of Sungai Penuh City. The motto, “Sahalun suhak, salatuh bdei”, is in the Kerinci language and means being united and guided by consensus.
