The Banjar City emblem consists of a light-blue shield bearing a star, twin fortifications, a kujang, two mountains, agricultural and water features, and a winged wheel. Rice and cotton frame the design, which also carries the motto “Somahna Bagja di Buana,” meaning the community’s happiness in both body and spirit.

  • Star: The star represents the first principle of Pancasila and symbolizes religion and glory.
  • Twin fortifications: These symbolize defense and a gateway. Their nine pillars represent the Wali Songo and good fortune, while the pillars’ height refers to the year of independence, 1945.
  • Kujang: This traditional Sundanese weapon has five holes, which represent Pancasila.
  • Two mountains: The mountains depict Mount Babakan and Mount Sangkur and symbolize strength and steadfastness.
  • Fields, river, and irrigation: The rice fields, dry fields, river, and irrigation symbolize fertility and prosperity, and the river represents the flow of the Citanduy River.
  • Winged wheel: The wheel signifies Banjar’s role as a dynamic transit city.
  • Rice and cotton: These symbolize clothing and food. The 17 rice stalks and 8 cotton plants refer to the date of the Proclamation of Independence.
  • Colors: Light blue represents peacefulness and a dynamic character; yellow, glory; green, fertility; red and white, the national flag of the Republic of Indonesia; and black, steadfastness and strength.
