The Indramayu Regency emblem consists of a blue-background shield bearing the inscription “Darma Ayu,” a Cakra weapon, a five-pointed gold star, rice, mangoes, a boat, waves, and a surrounding cord.
- Shield and blue field: The shield’s blue background symbolizes safety, perseverance, and earnestness in developing the region.
- “Darma Ayu” inscription: The name comes from Nyi Endang Darma Ayu, an important figure in Indramayu’s founding, and is the root of the regency’s name.
- Five-pointed star: The gold star symbolizes belief in the One Almighty God and the philosophy of Pancasila.
- Cakra: This heirloom weapon of Raden Arya Wiralodra, identified as Indramayu’s founder, symbolizes authority and tranquility.
- Agricultural and maritime elements: Rice, mangoes, a boat, and waves symbolize natural wealth and the people’s principal livelihoods.
- Symbolic counts: The seven river-wave lines, ten sea-wave lines, and rice-grain counts of 15 and 27 symbolize Indramayu Regency’s founding date, 7 October 1527.
- Surrounding cord: The encircling cord represents a close and harmonious relationship between the government and the community.
The motto “Mulih Harja” means that prosperity will return and is quoted from a historical inscription of Arya Wiralodra; this motto appears on the Indramayu Regency emblem.
