Arsenal Football Club is a professional football club based in Islington, North London, England. The club currently competes in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League (UCL). Founded in 1886 by munitions workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, it began as Dial Square before adopting its present name. Arsenal became the first club from southern England to join the Football League in 1893 and entered the First Division in 1904.

The club has maintained a continuous presence in England’s top division for more than 105 years. Its history includes a long-standing rivalry with Tottenham Hotspur, which forms the North London derby, and influential managerial periods under Herbert Chapman and Arsène Wenger.
