The UEFA Champions League, also known as UCL or UEFA CL, is an annual club football tournament organised by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). It features top-division European clubs and is played in a format that starts with a round-robin league phase before moving to two-legged knockout rounds and a single-match final.

First introduced in 1955 as the European Champion Clubs’ Cup, the competition adopted its current name in 1992 and expanded its format over time, including a group stage from 1991 and multiple entrants from certain countries since 1997–98. It remains one of the most prestigious club competitions in Europe and the world’s most-watched club tournament.
