Bundesliga is a professional football league in Germany and the highest level of the German football league system. It is also known as the Fußball-Bundesliga or 1. Bundesliga. The competition features 18 teams and operates with promotion and relegation involving the 2. Bundesliga. Its seasons generally run from August to May, with matches played across Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

Founded in Dortmund in 1962, the league began its first season in 1963–64. It was established by the Deutscher Fußball-Bund and is now operated by the Deutsche Fußball Liga. Over its history, clubs such as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Hamburger SV, Werder Bremen, Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Mönchengladbach, and VfB Stuttgart have won the national championship.
