Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e. V. Dortmund, commonly known as Borussia Dortmund or BVB, is a German football club based in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. Founded in 1909 by 18 football players from the city, the club’s men’s professional team currently competes in the Bundesliga, Germany’s top football division, and the UEFA Champions League.

Known by the nickname Die Schwarzgelben (“The Black and Yellow”), the club has a strong regional identity and a large membership base. Its major rivalries include the Revierderby against Schalke 04 and Der Klassiker against FC Bayern Munich.
