La Liga, officially the Campeonato Nacional de Liga de Primera División, is Spain’s top professional football league. It is controlled by the Liga Nacional de Fútbol Profesional and features 20 teams playing across a 38-matchday season. The competition is also officially known as LaLiga EA Sports for sponsorship reasons.

Since its start, 63 teams have taken part in the league and nine different clubs have won the title. Real Madrid and Barcelona have been the dominant sides, while other champions include Valencia and Deportivo La Coruña. La Liga is one of Europe’s leading domestic leagues and is closely followed across Spain.
