Real Sociedad de Fútbol, S.A.D., commonly known as Real Sociedad, is a Spanish professional football club based in San Sebastián, Spain. Founded on 7 September 1909, it plays in La Liga and is also known in Basque as Erreala or Reala. The club was a founding member of La Liga in 1929 and has spent long periods in Spain’s top flight, including a 40-season stretch from 1967 to 2007.

The club won the league title in 1980–81 and 1981–82, and has reached the UEFA Champions League five times, most recently in 2023–24. Real Sociedad also has a strong academy tradition, developing players such as Xabi Alonso, Antoine Griezmann, and Martin Zubimendi, while maintaining a significant Basque identity alongside international talent.
