Club Atlético de Madrid, S.A.D., commonly known as Atletico Madrid or simply Atlético, is a Spanish professional football club based in Madrid, Spain. It competes in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League (UCL).

Founded on 26 April 1903 as Athletic Club Sucursal de Madrid, the club later merged with Club Aviación Nacional in 1939 and adopted its current name in 1946. Its traditional kit features red and white striped shirts with blue shorts, and supporters are often called colchoneros, indios, or rojiblancos.
