Fútbol Club Barcelona, also known as Barcelona or Barça, is a professional football club based in Barcelona, Spain. It competes in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League (UCL). Founded in 1899 by a group of Swiss, English, German, and Catalan players led by Joan Gamper, the club has long been associated with Catalonia and the motto “Més que un club.”

The team is traditionally identified by its red and blue colours, which led to the nickname Blaugrana. It has been in Spain’s top division since 1928 and is one of the country’s most prominent clubs. Supporters are often called Culés.
